Interpreti inconsapevoli

In alcuni luoghi turisticamente noti del nostro pianeta, il proposito di “quella foto” tende a diffondersi istantaneamente tra i viaggiatori presenti che, come rapiti da un istintivo processo d’imitazione, realizzano insieme curiose ed inconsapevoli coreografie.

Sebbene tra loro non si conoscano affatto, i turisti, nell’aspirare a realizzare lo stesso scatto nel contesto dell’ambiente che li circonda, assumono tutti atteggiamenti e pose comuni, come in una sorta di suggestiva performance di gruppo .

Nei social network è immediatamente verificabile quanto le immagini pubblicate delle nostre vacanze siano spesso troppo simili. Anche queste immagini (scattate proprio in un particolarissimo contesto turistico), ad una prima analisi sembrano tutte uguali. La fantasia, l’interpretazione e la quantità di combinazioni dei soggetti, invece, è davvero sorprendente.

In alcune circostanze, superare la barriera della prevedibilità della posa, assumendo atteggiamenti esasperati ed inconsueti, magari goffi o incomprensibili, persino ridicolizzandoci, mostrando una certa autoironia nel portarci a diventare la caricatura di noi stessi, permettono di nascondere la nostra vera immagine, già sufficientemente stremata dalla impari competizione, con le rappresentazioni stereotipate che giornalmente ci circondano.

In questa occasione, tuttavia, la gioiosa partecipazione dei protagonisti, malgrado le pose che possono sembrare assurde e incomprensibili (ma che al termine trovano una loro spiegazione razionale) e che trasmettono curiosità e persino smarrimento in colui che le osserva, permette di scorgere anche quell’espressività tipica del ritratto.

Unaware performers

In some of the well-known tourist locations of our planet, the purpose of the “that photo” tends to instantly spread among the travellers present, who, as if entranced by the instinctive process of imitation, together carry out curious and unwitting choreographies.

Although they do not know each other, the tourists, in aiming to have the same photograph in the context of the environment which surrounds them, assume common attitudes and poses, as if in a sort of suggestive group performance.

In social networks it is immediately verifiable how much the images posted from their holidays are too similar. Even these images (taken in particular touristic contexts), at a first analysis seem to all be the same. Imagination, interpretation and the quantity of combinations of subjects, instead, is really surprising.

In some circumstances, exceeding the predictability of the pose, assuming exaggerated and bizarre attitudes, perhaps goofy or incomprehensible, even poking fun at ourselves, showing a certain self irony in becoming a caricature of ourselves, allow us to hide our true image, already sufficiently worn out by the unbalanced competition, with the stereotypical representations which surround us daily.

In this occasion, however, the joyous participation of the protagonists, notwithstanding the poses which seem absurd and incomprehensible (but which in the end find their own rational explanation) and which transmit curiosity and even confusion in those who observe them, permits us to see that typical expressiveness of the portrait.
